BIM, Banning & Tilaa organise the third edition of See you in Court 2025
Unique start-up pitch event in Brabant
Why are we joining forces, what can you expect from the collaboration?
BIM, Banning Advocaten, and Tilaa are collaborating to organize the second edition of the unique pitch event with a nod to the court: See you in Court 2025. In the historic former Palace of Justice, home of Banning Advocaten, start-ups will ‘plead’ their business case and take on the challenge with each other. With a diverse, three-member jury and a varied audience, six start-ups from the region will have the opportunity to present their business models. The participating start-ups will pitch their business case in two types of rounds. Starting with “the bottom round,” where the public will also have a chance to cast a vote for the favorite start-up. The final round, “the appeal,” makes only one start-up emerge victorious and they win “this case. And all this, of course, in toga!
winners See you in Court PAVA in the spotlight: how are they doing?
We spoke with Femke from PAVA, the winner of See you in Court 2024. On June 18, 2024, PAVA convinced the jury with their innovative business case and won the prize package, which includes 50 hours of legal advice from Banning Advocaten, the Tilaa Talent Fund worth €10,000, and a year of free flexible workspace in a community building provided by BIM.
How are they doing now? What impact has winning See you in Court 2024 had on their startup? You can read all about it in the interview below!
You are the winners of See you in Court 2024. For those who don’t know PAVA or See you in Court, who are you and what do you do?
Femke: “At PAVA, we have developed a monitoring system for elderly care that provides insight into the movements of residents in nursing homes or home care settings. We do this using WiFi signals. Instead of installing cameras or requiring residents to wear a device, our WiFi-sensor plugs detect disruptions in the network. This allows us to determine, for example, if someone has fallen or if someone is getting in or out of bed. That’s what we’re working on.
We’re still in the early stages, so right now, we are focusing on pinpointing a person’s exact location within a room. Our goal is to share our insights with healthcare professionals to reduce their workload and ultimately improve the quality of care. We want to provide caregivers with more peace of mind during night shifts by offering additional information support. This way, they can feel reassured that they don’t need to check on certain residents unnecessarily because we can determine that everything is calm in their room.”
What impact has See you in Court had on PAVA? You won—how do you look back on that experience?
Femke: “The prize package was perfect for us. The 50 hours of legal advice from Banning Advocaten is incredibly valuable. We are meticulous when it comes to navigating this sensitive healthcare sector. Now, we can move forward with certainty—we don’t have to second-guess ourselves—and we can reach out to ensure everything is in order. What I love most about having this many hours is that it allows us to build a relationship with our contact person. They understand exactly what we need, and it feels like a long-term collaboration.
We’re also making great use of Tilaa’s services; they have a wealth of expertise. Since they saw us at the event and had those initial conversations with us, the Tilaa team is very engaged. That, too, feels like a truly supportive partnership.
The BIM flexible workspace is in a fantastic location—we’re almost looking for a reason to use it full-time! Unfortunately, that’s not possible at the moment because we are based in Amsterdam. However, if we establish connections with nursing homes in that region, we would love to work from there.
Everyone wants to help you think through challenges, especially when it comes to building a startup. The entire See you in Court network contributes to that. Beyond the professional benefits, it was just a really fun day. The fact that everything happens in a courtroom setting, and that you prepare for the event with the other candidates in advance, created a sense of companionship. I look back on it with extremely positive feelings.”
How is PAVA doing now?
Femke: “When we participated in See you in Court 2024, two of us were still finishing our studies, and two were working part-time. Since August, we have all been working full-time on PAVA. See you in Court was such a major turning point for us. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this competition has made a huge difference for us. The trust we’ve gained, along with the legal and technical advice we’ve received, has been invaluable. Back then, we knew what we wanted to do and how we wanted to go about it, but having the support of professionals made all the difference.
Since September, we’ve conducted our first pilot for data collection. Everything we do is AI-driven, so we need a large amount of data before we can fully develop our solution. In early December, we launched a major pilot for product validation in a nursing home in North Holland. There, we were able to collect data from 20 rooms to validate the accuracy of our product. We already know the technology works—WiFi sensing is a proven concept—but validation is crucial. By the end of 2024 and early 2025, we hope to complete our pilots and validations so that we can roll out our solution more broadly throughout the rest of 2025.
We are also starting our first conversations with home care organizations. How do their systems work, and what value can we add there? That’s what we’re currently experimenting with—where can we provide the most support and make the greatest impact, both socially and in terms of relieving pressure on the healthcare system? Where can we be most effective, and what direction should we take?”
You have fantastic future plans and ambitions. Where do you see PAVA in a year?
Femke: “Our biggest goal is to improve the quality of care by reducing the workload of healthcare professionals. We would be overjoyed if our insights could help eliminate unnecessary routine check-ins. This means patients and clients won’t be disturbed as often, allowing them to sleep better and feel better during the day. At the same time, caregivers will be able to do their rounds with more peace of mind and confidence because they will have real-time information about what’s happening.
We know we still have a long way to go before our product is fully operational, so for now, we’re focusing on successful pilots—step by step. Technically, we need to be highly accurate. We want to start small, provide reliable insights, and then scale up from there. So, what’s our dream? To help relieve some of the burden on the healthcare system.”
What advice would you give to future participants of See you in Court?
Femke: “For us, See you in Court was a true launchpad, thanks to winning the prize package. It’s such a fun experience. You get to practice pitching and participate in the ‘Higher Appeal’ round, which is really exciting. Beyond the prize package, the people involved are incredibly supportive. After this competition, I would never hesitate to reach out to any of the involved parties.
The environment was so warm and welcoming that I truly feel like I can turn to anyone for advice. Even if you don’t win, I’m certain that all the participating organizations would still be willing to provide guidance and support. It feels like we now have a whole rooting team behind us, which is amazing.”
Recap Tilaa Talent Fund
Tilaa stands for facilitating space for new ideas (‘creating space for new ideas‘). We believe that technology can be used as a solution to issues that are growing every day. Because we stand for ‘Geen woorden maar data’, we have developed the Tilaa Talent Fund (TTF). With this fund, we focus on digital dreamers and go-getters who can contribute to a more beautiful world with their brilliant ideas. How do we do that? We look back at a successful first edition of the Tilaa Talent Fund Digital Dreamers Meetup, where Stijn van Geene and Asaf Kedem took on the challenge of convincing the three-member jury – Ralph Geers, Gerben van de Ven and Henny Hilgerdenaar – of their innovative concepts.
The TTF Challenge 2023 was an impressive high-level journey that brought together exceptional talents, with Verhaaltjesland.nl as the ultimate winner!
Recap See you in Court 2024
The second edition of See you in Court in 2024 was once again a great success. Six different start-ups were challenged to make the most of their pitch in a unique setting at Banning Advocaten’s premises. In the final, the finalists SymbioMatter and PAVA tried to convince the three-member jury, consisting of Minos van Joolingen (partner and lawyer at Banning Advocaten), Henny Hilgerdenaar (CEO of Tilaa), and Arjen Heeres (coach and investor at the Bossche Investment Fund). After a long deliberation, the jury rendered its verdict, and PAVA was declared the winner of See you in Court 2024! At the closing networking event, new collaborations were initiated, and one thing was certain: See you in Court will be back in 2025!

Do you have an innovative idea? Our success is your success!
Learning in practice how to get from idea to reality, realizing a unique idea, is often accompanied by all kinds of barriers. Think of unforeseen costs, a (too) small network or little knowledge.
“See you in Court” exists to provide space for brilliant ideas from start-ups. It is an inspiring meeting place for entrepreneurs, investors and experts from different fields.
With the prizes to be won from this pitch event, we can help you as a start-up move forward in building your innovative dream. We do this by a financial contribution, but also by making knowledge and skills available. For example, Banning is providing a reward of one year of free legal advice (of up to 50 hours), Tilaa is offering the Tilaa Talent Fund with a total value of €10,000 (partly financial, partly products/services*), and BIM is providing one year of free flex work space in a community building (Grasso, Jamfabriek or De Gruyter Fabriek).
So there is plenty at stake; Do you have an idea and do you want to convince the jury of 2025 with your plan and win this case?
*The prize consists of a financial contribution (min. €5,000), coaching, guidance and access to Tilaa’s expertise, products and services. The exact distribution of the prize will be determined in consultation based on the winner’s business case.
